The personal touch screen high definition monitor built into the console, it is an interesting concept until you see the price tag. Think of the "Take My Breath Away" song before you look at the price tag. If you have bags of loot, this is an option. I said this on a Cybex machine earlier, but I put in a small deposit on a Elio car that will start being produced next year in Shreveport, LA. It is a two seat car, gets 84 MPH, is supposed to have a 5 star crash rating, and costs about 70% of the cost of this treadmill at $6,800. How someone can make a car for $6,800 and Star Trac can't make this machine for much less than $10,000 and you start questioning if you are in the Twilight Zone or living a regular life.

General Information

Star Trac was started by the original designers of the Lifecycle stationary cycle. Their treadmills are popular in clubs. Star Trac branded product is simply their commercial machines labeled for the consumer market. If you are shooting for quality regardless of price then Star Trac is a great choice.

Quality / Philosophy

Star Trac puts very high quality electronics in their machines and then lets the rest fall into place. At full retail price, it is so-so deal for the price. With the big discounts we saw in their online store, Star Tracs made quite a bit of sense if you were considering a $4000 to $5000 home treadmill.

Star Trac is big in the club market because they are a value alternative and cheaper products will always sell well. We would expect them to be around for product support for a long time.
