Spirit XE 195 Elliptical Review
TREADMILL DOCTOR NOTE :
Spirit's XE 195 is a solid machine made by the same factory as Sole.
Spirit gives you solid quality, good reliability, and acceptable value for the money. All in all there are a lot of brands that don't offer nearly as much.
The Spirit XE 195 is a nice option. At $1,099, you get a durable elliptical that provides good quality at a value you can appreciate. All in all, this is a slightly above average model that comes at a very affordable price. There are a couple of ellipticals we would pick before this one, but it really comes down to personal taste.
Ergonomically speaking, this machine is pretty good. There are a few ellipticals selling for a couple hundred dollars less than offer a more natural range of motion, but there are even more models that are much more expensive that offer an ergonomically inferior motion. The lack of adjustability is a bit concerning. 20 levels of resistance give you the ability to align your workout with your fitness levels. Still, plenty of ellipticals selling for several hundred dollars less offer more options for adjustments.
As far as projected reliability is concerned, this model is very solid. You generally have to pay more than $2,000 to get an elliptical with a longer life expectancy, although their are a few cheaper models that are more durable. The quality of parts used is also notable in this price range.
The noise levels of this machine are average. Most ellipticals make about the same amount of noise regardless of price, and this one is no different. If quietness during operation is a major concern for you, you can do better in this area without spending more money, but we don't expect the average user to be bothered by the amount of noise this model makes.
The warranty on the Spirit XE 195 is good. Labor is covered for 1 year, parts are covered for 5 years, and the frame and brake are covered for life. This warranty is appropriate for this elliptical given the $1,099 price tag.
