The life span of the Spirit CT 850 should last a while. We at Treadmill Doctor like the fact that Spirit stands behind their product with a best in class warranty. We feel the running deck and running belt are both well-constructed and should get the user a good number of quality years out of their investment. And if not the lifetime deck and motor warranty is outstanding when compared to their competition in this price range. We feel with the proper maintenance there is a good number of years that you will get out of this treadmill. You are most likely to tire of the CT 850's looks and maybe some of the noises this treadmill will make before it actually dies on you.
The Spirit CT 850 seems to have quality in all the right places, but there are still some features that leave more to be desired. Please see our Spirit review to understand how the CT 850 might best fit your requirements.
The Spirit CT 850 is built with nice quality base materials. It has an AC drive motor as opposed to its little brother the CT 800's DC motor. An AC motor is a much more efficient motor and has a lot fewer problems in the long run generally speaking. The running deck and running belt are both well-constructed and are completely justified as commercial when coupled with the commercial-sized running surface. When you start heading north of the base is where we have a problem. Although the new look of the CT 850’s console is better than Spirits of old it still looks a little cheap. We don’t like the heart rate grips or the cheap look of the plastic. We have seen a fair share of the plastic heart rate grips and cup holders being cracked or busted quickly in a light commercial setting. With that in mind, for your residential application, we are sure you shouldn’t have a problem with that aspect. If you do Spirits best in class warranty will have you covered.

This is the first year the Treadmill Doctor has reviewed the Spirit CT 850. Please see our Spirit review as well as other treadmill reviews.
Although the CT850 is limited on speed range and program selection, we are impressed with the high-quality parts Spirit built the CT 850 with. If you are concerned with quality build and not so much about technology options this could be your next treadmill purchase. So, we have awarded the Spirit CT 850 4th place winner for Treadmill Doctor’s 2021 Best Buy for treadmills in the $3000-$3999 price point.
