Sole E 98 Elliptical Review
TREADMILL DOCTOR NOTE :
The Sole E98 offers great quality for the money.
The Sole E98 is a light commercial machine that is also sold into the home market. With that note, it has some drawbacks for the home, particularly with regard to noise. That being said, you will find few other machines that will give you as much durability for the money.
The Sole E 98 is a very solid elliptical for $1,999. If you can afford it, you'll get a durable model that has a very nice feel to it. The biggest flaws are the amount of noise it makes and the substandard warranty. Keep in mind that this machine wasn't designed for use in the home. That can be both a good and a bad thing.
As far as ergonomics are concerned, this elliptical is very impressive. You don't usually see a range of motion this natural without paying more than $3,000. The adjustability beats many of the models that are in this price range, but you can find cheaper models that do better. The pedals are adjustable with 10 settings , and the power adjustable stride has a maximum length of 20". This will give you a few options to help the movements fit your particular body type.
We also predict that this elliptical will be very reliable. It takes an extra $1,000 to see machines that we expect to have a longer life expectancy than this one does. The quality of parts is good at almost any price range.
The noise level this machine makes is a bit disappointing. Most ellipticals on the market make a similar amount of noise, but this is one of the few that is a little louder. It's not extremely loud, but it's hard to justify for a model that costs almost $2,000.
The warranty on the Sole E98 is average, which isn't very good for the cost. Labor is covered for 1 year, parts and electronics are covered for 3 years, and the frame is covered for life. We expect better coverage on a machine that is as reliable as this one, especially considering what an investment it is to purchase it.
