The 545 is Freemotion's version of NordicTrack's E 5.7. Save yourself some money and just buy the E5.7.

FreeMotion 545 Elliptical Review

Noise Level:

Overall Rating: 4.45

I could get into a recommendation on the pluses and minuses of this product, but since you can essentially buy the same product from NordicTrack for $400 less, I won't do the comparison.

The Freemotion 545 is an elliptical that's not worth buying. It is almost the exact same model as the NordicTrack E 5.7. This one sells for $999, and NordicTrack's version costs $400 less. There is really no reason to recommend this model considering its similarities to the E 5.7.

Ergonomically speaking, this model is okay. Most of the models in this price range are worse in this area, but it's not exactly difficult to find affordable ellipticals that offer a more natural range of motion. The lack of adjustability is a bit concerning, but you do get some options. The stride length can be set between 20"-22", which allows you to fit this machine to your personal body type. You can also select from 22 levels of resistance, and the incline goes from 0 to 20%. This allows you to find the settings that works best with your fitness levels. There are ellipticals that sell at this price that can make several more adjustments.

As far as projected reliability is concerned, this machine isn't bad. If you know where to look, however, you can get an elliptical for this same price that has a longer life expectancy. The quality of parts is nice, but you can do better without spending more money.

The noise levels of this model are below average. Most ellipticals make the same amount of noise regardless of price, but those sold below $1,000 tend to be slightly louder. At this low of a cost, you can still get a quieter machine.

The warranty on the FreeMotion 545 is not good. Parts and labor are covered for 1 year, while the frame is covered for life. This type of warranty does not display confidence in this elliptical on the part of the manufacturer. It appears that FreeMotion doesn't expect this model to hold up well over time.
