BH Fitness XS3 Elliptical Review
TREADMILL DOCTOR NOTE :
The XS3 should be price around $1299 for it to be a reasonable deal.
I know I am beating a dead horse here if you've read the rest of the BH elliptical reviews, but the XS3 is a solid elliptical that is dramatically overpriced. If you can get a significant discount it may be work purchasing, but we would recommend that you look at Sole, Epic and Livestrong before you do.
The BH XS3 follows BH's tradition of making decent fitness equipment that is massively overpriced. If you pay $1,999 for this elliptical, you are basically throwing money away. Without a decent discount, there is no reason to consider purchasing this model. Even then, you could probably find a better option.
Ergonomically speaking, this machine is pretty disappointing. You could spend $1,000 less than you would on this elliptical and get a more natural range of motion. The lack of adjustability is even more concerning. The stride length is fixed at 20". If this doesn't work for your particular body type, you'll be out of luck. There are, however, 16 levels of resistance that allow you to align your workout with your fitness levels. There are machines selling as low as $799 that offer significantly more options for adjustments.
As far as projected reliability is concerned, this machine is disappointing. You could buy an elliptical that costs $1,100 less and still has a longer life expectancy. The quality of parts used is also well below what the market dictates for a $1,999 elliptical.
The noise levels of this machine are below average. Most ellipticals make about the same amount of noise regardless of price, but this is one of the few models that is a bit louder than most. If quietness during operation is a major concern for you, you can find better options in this price range.
The warranty on the BH XS3 is nice. Labor is covered for 1 year, parts are covered for 5 years, and the frame is covered for life. This type of coverage may lead you to believe that this elliptical is more durable than it really is, but in reality, BH can afford to replace a lot of parts because they ask for so much more than their machine are worth.
