Proform Power 690 Treadmill Review
treadmill Doctor Note :
With the $300 price drop this year, it makes it worth looking at if you need a sub $1000 treadmill.
Don't let the name of the treadmill make you think it is anywhere near club quality but it is stout for the price.
The Proform Power 690 is one of the best treadmills you can buy at $999. If you have a strict sub-$1,000 budget, you should definitely give this model a look. Still, you'd probably be better off with the Power 795. It costs $200 less, offers similar quality, and has a better warranty.
The walking area on this model is a good size. The belt measures in at 20" x 55". This is a solid 5" shorter than the standard 20" x 60" walking belt, but it should still provide enough length for users with larger strides to run on comfortably.
This machine is run by a pretty impressive motor. There aren't very many sub-$1,000 treadmills that have better power producing capabilities than this one. Speeds of up to 12 mph are attainable, so even serious runners should be able to challenge themselves with this model.
If you're looking for a great cushioning system, this treadmill offers one of the best for the price. ProTech Cushioning is used to reduce the impact that running has on your joints and back. Most of the models that sell this low offer less impact resistance or have running surfaces that will become less forgiving over a shorter amount of time.
The projected reliability of this machine is excellent. You can find treadmills selling for $1,000 more than this one that have a shorter life expectancy. The quality of parts is better than you'd find in most models that cost this little.
The warranty on the Proform 690 Pro is sad. Parts and labor are covered for 1 year, the motor is covered for 25 years, and the frame is covered for life. At this price, this kind of coverage is common, but this treadmill has the durability to justify offering a better warranty, which would help this model to stand out in its price range even more.
