Precor 9.27 Treadmill Review
treadmill Doctor Note :
A high quality Precor tread for around $2000 turned our heads! This is a fantastic deal on a very good treadmill!
Features extreme users would love...
Powerful motor complimenting an excellent drive system
A powerful 3 HP motor - this is the same motor that figures even in the high end models of Precor and many other brands. This motor complements the high quality drive system and delivers a smooth workout in a relatively noise free ambiance. Speeds up to 12 mph are easily attained and extreme running is an option that this treadmill will encourage, especially when a life time warranty covers the motor.
A spacious running surface
The running surface measuring 20" x 57" offers a fairly sizeable area for power runners in the small, medium and large categories, though purists may crib that it is 3" shorter. Whether users have a wider stance or a longer stride, this surface accommodates them all with a fair degree of comfort.
Bigger users will be happy
With the unit weighing in at 227 pounds this is a heavy treadmill fit for heavier users crossing 375 pounds. Big runners can follow extreme fitness regimens without compromising exercise intensity and duration.
Reversible deck boosts longevity
Users can prolong the life of the deck by simply reversing it and installing a new belt. This spreads the shock of impact evenly over the running surface, doubling the life of the deck.
Good longevity and strong warranty
Excellent quality parts and improved longevity make this treadmill good value for money. In the Precor 9.27 warranty labor is covered for 1 year, parts and wear items are covered for 5 years, and the frame and welds are covered for life. It's the kind of warranty that sends out a strong message from Precor that it backs its product to the hilt.
And a moment for reflection...
Too pricey for budget buyers
The $2,299 price tag firmly places this model beyond the reach of the average buyer, but for these budget-conscious folks there are models that combine utility and affordability in more reasonable price segments. But for serious runners on the look out for quality, durability and performance, the Precor 9.27 is an irresistible buy.
Cushioning is not up to the mark
The cushioning is decent but still lags behind compared to what lower priced treadmills are offering. There's no justification in compromising shock absorption technology at the higher $2,299 price tag. This is the only discordant note in a harmonious treadmill.
The final verdict
Power and performance with matching features presented in a great package. The Precor 9.27 is a fabulous machine that will satisfy all categories of users following extreme fitness routines. But if you value $500 that's the margin that gifts you a cheaper Precor 9.23 ($1,799) which contributes identical features without compromising quality.
Unless you need the expanded electronics or like the aluminum straddle rails, stick with the 9.23 but the price is so good on this model, it is well worth considering!
