NordicTrack E 5.5 Elliptical Review
treadmill Doctor Note :
The E 5.5 is a solid machine if you want a folding elliptical.
Frankly, we would recommend the ACT elliptical if you have space limitations. The folding feature on this machine seems kind of useless to us. All in all a decent quality elliptical.
The NordicTrack E 5.5 is a decent elliptical for $799. It has a folding feature, which we don't find to be particularly useful. When it folds up it will save an extra 2 feet. The ACT would be a better option if you're trying to save room.
For the price, this machine has impressive ergonomics. You're certainly not going to find any ellipticals in the sub-$1,000 range that offer a more natural range of motion. There are even a couple of models that sell for more than $2,000 that aren't as ergonomically correct as this one. The adjustability on this machine is good, as well. The stride length can be set at 16", 18", or 20", giving you a few choices to help fit this model to your body type. You can find similarly priced ellipticals that offer more adjustment options, but there aren't many.
The projected reliability is about the best you can expect considering how in expensive this machine is. The only model under $1,000 that has a longer life expectancy is the NordicTrack ACT. The quality of parts is also impressive. Comparable parts are used on several models that cost $1,000 more than this one does.
The noise level is a little below average. This isn't awful at this price, but you can definitely do better. If quiet operation is an important factor in your decision, you can find ellipticals that aren't as loud without paying extra.
The warranty for the NordicTrack E 5.5 leaves a lot to be desired. Parts and labor are covered for 1 year, while the frame is covered for life. Many of the less expensive models offer coverage like this, but there are an equal amount that are willing to offer a better warranty with their lower end products. This type of coverage does little to inspire confidence as a buyer.
