This design provides very good quality and a great feel. The only problem is that Horizon's competitors have really improved and are starting to make this design look a little long in the tooth.
The Horizon Fitness EX69 is one of Horizon's better ellipticals. It's priced pretty appropriately at $799. Its design is nice, although it is a bit outdated. Overall, this is a fairly average model that is sold at a price that's hard to complain about.
Ergonomically speaking, this elliptical is good for the price. You can find models that sell for this low that offer a more natural range of motion, but there are very few of them. The adjustability isn't bad, but if you're willing to spend $200 more, you'll get a lot more options. The stride length is fixed at 20". You do, however, get 16 different levels of resistance.
As far as projected reliability is concerned, this model does quite well within its price range. It's not easy to find an elliptical that sells for less than $1,000 that has a longer life expectancy than this one does. The quality of parts also impresses when the price tag is taken into consideration.
The noise level is about average. At this price range, that's pretty good. Most ellipticals make around the same amount of noise during operation, but those that have this low of a cost tend to be a bit louder. If low noise levels are important to you, and you aren't willing to spend much more than this, you should give this model a look. You won't find anything quieter without paying more for it.
The warranty on the Horizon EX 69 isn't good. Parts and labor are covered for 1 year, while the brake and frame are covered for life. This warranty doesn't display much confidence in this elliptical on the part of the manufacturer. It's hard to get excited about a product when the people who made it aren't willing to stand behind it.
