The nicer display with more programming would be nice to have if you want variety in your workouts.

The Vision TF 40 Elegant is the upgraded version of the TF40 Classic. You get the same quality, components, motor, and cushioning system, but it comes with added programming options and a better display. At $3,599, you're paying an extra $600 for those upgrades. If you easily get bored on a treadmill, it might be worth it, but if you're just concerned about durability and functionality, stick with the cheaper version.

The walking area is a good size. The belt measures in at 20" x 60", which has become the standard size for walking belts on many of today's treadmills. This should provide plenty of room for larger users to run on comfortably without altering their stride.

A decent motor powers this machine. Several of the treadmills in this price range have similar power producing capabilities, but if you know where to look, you can find models that sell for $2,000 that have more powerful motors. Speeds of up to 12 mph are attainable, so even experienced runners should have no problem challenging themselves.

A disappointing cushioning system comes on this model. Ultra Zone cushioning is used to reduce the impact that running has on your joints and back. True has some models around this price that offer much more forgiving and durable running surfaces, and Proform has treadmills that sell for under $1,000 that have cushioning systems comparable to the one found on this model.

As far as projected reliability is concerned, this machine does pretty well. You usually have to pay $4,000 to find a treadmill that has a longer life expectancy, but there are a couple of exceptions. The quality of parts used is also good.

The warranty on the Vision TF40 Elegant is great. Labor is covered for 2 years; parts are covered for 7 years; and the motor, frame, and cushioning are covered for life. This treadmill is certainly durable, and it has the coverage to match.
