SportsArt E 83 Elliptical Review

Noise Level:

Overall Rating: 6.1

Considering the amount of money SportsArt charges for their units, you have available choices from True Fitness, Precor and LifeFitness that make better sense. At least SportsArt makes quality products, just overpriced.

The SportsArt E 83 brings good quality, but it's not cheap. At $2,999, the price is the biggest drawback. Other brands can provide similar quality without the oversized price tag. Still, this was the 3rd runner up for our Best Buy award in the $2,000-2,999 price range.

The ergonomics are pretty good, but at this price, you'd like to a see a little better. There are several models that sell for less than $2,000 that offer a more natural range of motion. MyFlex cushioning system is also used, but ellipticals already provide a low impact workout. The adjustability is very good. The stride length can be set anywhere from 18"-25.5", which provides you with plenty of options to fit this machine to your particular body type.

The projected reliability is just slightly below what we would hope for in an elliptical that costs nearly $3,000. There are even a couple of models that cost less than $1,000 that have a comparable life expectancy. The quality of parts used is about average. Average is unacceptable at this price. Charging more than $2,000 for a machine built with parts like these insulting.

The noise level is about the same as most ellipticals, which is nothing to complain about. This is pretty standard across all price levels. If it's a major concern for you, you can find models that are much quieter at a lower price, but this shouldn't be loud enough to bother the average user.

The warranty on the SportsArt E 83 is nothing short of fantastic. Labor is covered for 1 year, electronic parts are covered for 5 years, mechanical parts are covered for 10 years, and the frame is covered for life. You don't see many companies that are willing to stand behind their product like SportsArt did with this mode. It really displays a large amount of confidence on the part of the manufacturer.
