Spirit has really caught fire over the last few years and has their act together. The XT line has held up well from reports we have heard from consumers and dealers. The machines are some of the best they have put out in the last decade.

The Spirit XT385 is a good example of how Spirit has really improved in the last few years. This treadmill looks great and has the key components to back it up. At $1,699, there are a lot of reasons to like this model over other options. The biggest drawback is that the cushioning doesn't stack up with other treadmills in this price range.

The walking area is a good size. The belt measures in at 20" x 58", which is a solid 2" shorter than the standard 20" x 60" walking belt that is found on many of today's treadmills. This should still provide plenty of room for larger users to run on comfortably without altering their stride.

A nice motor powers this machine. The power producing capabilities of this treadmill are greater than many models that are much more expensive. Speeds of up to 12 mph are attainable, so even experienced runners should have no problem challenging themselves.

A mediocre cushioning system comes on this model. Six evenly spaced cushions are used to reduce the impact that running has on your joints and back. You can find several treadmills selling for less than $1,000 that offer similarly forgiving and durable running surfaces.

As far as projected reliability is concerned, this machine is great. Many treadmills that cost an extra $1,000 have a shorter life expectancy than this one has. The quality of parts used is also very impressive in this price range.

The warranty on the Spirit XT385 is very good. Labor is covered for 1 year; parts are covered for 10 years; and the motor, deck, and frame are covered for life. This warranty shows that Spirit has a lot of faith in this treadmill. We aren't surprised. This model has the durability to support this type of coverage.
