How long will the Spirit XT285 last?

The Spirit XT285 is designed for durability and one of the best things about this treadmill is the build. A light to moderate user will get many years of use from this treadmill, especially if extra steps like unplugging and regular maintenance are included in the schedule. Spirit offers a lifetime warranty on the frame, motor, and deck, 10-year parts, and a 1-year labor which is a great testament to the faith they place in their machines.

Brief Overview

Spirit Fitness knows how to make durable treadmills that will practically last a lifetime and they did not disappoint with the build of the XT285. The Spirit XT285 is an upgrade from their previous model and is a decent treadmill for those who want a step up from the XT185. Even though the total weight of this treadmill is only 236 lbs., do not despair as Spirit has been developing treadmills over 30+ years and they do not shirk in the construction quality. It has been designed to easily fold up and down to save space in your living area after your workout. Also, Spirit offers long-lasting warranties, so you don't need to worry about replacing your machine anytime soon.

Overall Quality

The Spirit XT285 The XT285 is a treadmill with excellent features to suit all types of users. The treadmill has an easy to read 7.5" backlit LCD screen with speed and incline controls on the side of the handlebars for added convenience. The XT285 offers a 20” x 60” long running surface for comfortable running. It is equipped with a powerful 3.0HP continuous-duty motor and an adjustable cooling fan dual speakers with audio jack plus Bluetooth compatibility to allow you to hook up your music device while working out to keep the boredom at bay.
The Spirit XT285 has a max capacity of 350 lbs. which allows for users of all types and sizes. Most comparable models in this price range offer a 15% incline but the XT285 only goes to 12%. Additionally, the 12 MPH offered is standard in others at this price. Only 8 programs are built into this model which is one of the lowest in today’s market and the lack of a touchscreen shows that Spirit has placed more of their budget in the build and not the technology.

History

We have commended Spirit for creating a solid step-up treadmill that is budget-friendly. But we have said that the Spirit XT285 units really look dated and behind the times.

Conclusion

Before you purchase your treadmills, we encourage you to assess your fitness goals and priorities. If you value features and technology then the XT285 is not for you. But if you are a moderate user on a budget looking for a durable treadmill, then this may be the model for you. Accordingly, we have awarded the Spirit XT285 our Fourth Place 2021 Best Buy Award for the $1,500 to $1,999 dollar category.
