How long will the Spirit XT185 last?

The Spirit XT185 represents an affordable and reliable running machine for anyone who wants to get started on their fitness journey. Spirit backs the build of this machine with a lifetime warranty on the motor, deck, and frame, 5-years on parts, and 1-year on labor which is one of the best in the market. A beginning to light user will get many years of use with proper care and maintenance.

Brief Overview

The Spirit XT185 treadmill is perfect for those who are looking to get a solid workout without all the distractions. It offers basic settings and features that will help you stay productive and keep your mind on track. The treadmill is a geared toward walkers and light joggers. It has few features, but they cover all the basic needs of beginning users with programs to keep you motivated no matter what your workout may be like.

Overall Quality

The Spirit XT185 was built for those looking at minimalism over entertainment, however, there are still some options available should one want more strenuous workouts or who likes being pushed outside their comfort zone from time-to-time. The XT185 is a decent treadmill for the casual user. It has few features but it's capable of sustaining light jogging with its 2.75 HP motor with no problem at all. The only thing holding this machine back are some disappointing lower specifications for this price range - the belt length on is 20" x 55," making it difficult to use if you are of a taller nature and it comes with only a 275 lb. weight capacity which leaves out heavily muscled users. Coupled with the lower specifications of a 10% incline you can tell this is the base line treadmill offering. Other features include a blue backlit LCD console with 6 programs, tablet friendly reading rack, and a folding frame.

Conclusion

If you are someone looking for advanced features the Spirit XT185 is not going to be your best choice. The price is also overrated compared to similarly priced treadmills as the XT185 comes in with lower specs. This treadmill does have serious durability in its build, but we recommend looking into either other models or major discounted prices before purchasing. When you discover you can spend less money and get better features on other treadmills you might see the XT185 is not worth the $1899 price.

Jeff Decker- Solid TreadmillJan 20, 2020

Solid treadmill with a simple console, just what I needed to get my walks in during the winter.

G. Olson- Spirit 185 reviewMar 29, 2020

I have and had my treadmill for about 8 years. It has only needed routine belt cleaning, and lubrication. I just recently needed to tighten the drive belt-- after 8 years. A simple fix for squeaky / slipping belt. I use the treadmill about 4 times a week during the winter. And a few times a month in the summer when it is stormy weather. I rarely use the programs, but adjust the incline or speed on my own. I use the speed at 5-6 mph as my pace- generally for one hour. I've done 2-hour workouts without any issues. This has been a quality treadmill--given the price and years of use.

Tom- Customer Service is terrible. Dec 05, 2020

Was a solid treadmill at first. After light use it stopped running one day. At first Spirit Customer Service was helpful. When the replacement parts they sold me did not work they fell off the face of the earth. Currently I am not even asking for anything more then advice how to proceed. Likely is going to cost us way more then the treadmill is worth to have a tech come out to fix. I would not recommend the Spirit treadmills.
