The Smooth 5.65 is a decent choice at $999, but it has some serious competition. Other machines may beat this one out based on features or even durability, but the warranty on this treadmills makes it worth a serious look.

The walking area is a decent size. The belt measures in at 20" x 55", which is a good bit shorter than the standard 20" x 60" walking belt that's found on many of today's treadmills. Still, it should provide enough room for larger users to run on comfortably without altering their stride.

You'll get a good motor with this machine. You can find a few models in this price range that have more power producing capabilities, but it's very rare. Speeds of up to 10 mph are attainable with this treadmill, so most users won't have a problem challenging themselves.

A decent cushioning system comes on this model. Im-pression Shock Absorption is used to help reduce the impact that running has on your joints and back. Some models that sell for almost $1,000 more than this one use similar cushioning systems, but you can find better at this price if you know where to look.

As far as projected reliability is concerned, this machine isn't great. Most of the treadmills in this price range have a longer life expectancy than this one does. The quality of parts used also leaves a bit to be desired.

The warranty on the Smooth 5.65 is great. Labor is covered for 2 years, parts are covered for 5 years, and the motor and frame are covered for life. It's rare to see this type of coverage on such an inexpensive treadmill. Companies that offer warranties that are this good on models that don't deserve it are often trying to cover up for inferior quality.
