With the quality that Proform is now using, it is hard to discount them from the competition. Just a few years ago a $1500 Proform would have got snickering from us but not any longer.

The Proform Pro 2500 is a solid treadmill that has very few complaints from us. At $1,499, it's not excessively expensive, either. This price range is extremely competitive, but this model holds its own. It was the 3rd runner up for our Best Buy award in the $1,300-1,499 price range.

The walking area is right where you want it to be. The 2-ply belt is a solid 20" x 60". This is the standard size for walking belts today, and it should accommodate users of varying sizes comfortably.

The motor in this machine is really good. You can find several models that cost between $2,000-3,000 that have comparable power producing capabilities. It can get you running at speeds of 12 mph, which should be enough to push even experienced runners.

The cushioning system really stands out in this price range. FS2 Full Surface Suspension is used to eliminate some of the impact running has on your joints and back. Proform claims that it's increased comfort will allow you to exercise for extended periods of time. You usually don't find treadmills that have such a forgiving running surface without paying $4,000.

The reliability is good, but it's not exactly special for a $1,499 treadmill. Its life expectancy is comparable to most of the other models that are priced in this area. Similarly, the quality of parts is quite price appropriate. It's nothing that blows us away, but it also doesn't disappoint.

The noise level is a little better than most in this price range, but not by a lot. It's quiet enough that most users won't be bothered by the noise during operation.

The warranty is really good on the Proform Pro 2500. Labor is covered for 2 years, parts are covered for 5 years, and the frame is covered for life. You can find many models that cost about the same that offer similar coverage, but you'd have a hard time finding one that offers more.
