PRECOR TREADMILL REVIEWS
General Information:Precor was acquired from Illinois Tool Works by Amer Group PLC in the fall of 2002. Amer Group also owns other well known brands like Wilson Sporting Goods. Precor has manufactured high quality equipment since the early 1980's. Although Precor has lost some of their dealer base over the last few years, they have really stepped up in the commercial game, and that is where they are strong. A strong commercial company is always good to buy from for the home because they know how to make a quality product. This past year Precor has become very aggressive on their home pricing putting models that were nearly $2500 much nearer to the $1500 price point.
Manufacturing Philosophy:Their design philosophy is to make a high quality product and then put a fair price on it. There's nothing wrong with making money, and Precor is definitely one of the companies in this business that knows how to do it. Consumers should consider a commercial Precor, if you are looking in the higher price ranges. We were expecting new models this fall but have been informed that you won't see these until the Fall of
Company Outlook : Precor has literally made a boatload of money from their elliptical products and deservedly so. We would expect them to remain one of the leading companies in terms of strength in the fitness business. Finally, they have given up their premium pricing on the entry level machines, and they should sell thousands more treadmills and ellipticals due to this change.
