Precor 9.27 Treadmill Review
treadmill Doctor Note :
A high quality Precor tread for less than $2300. This is a good deal on a very good treadmill!
Unless you need the expanded electronics or like the aluminum straddle rails, stick with the 9.23, but the price is so good on this model, it is well worth considering!
The Precor 9.27 is a very good value at $2,299. That being said, there's not much reason to choose this model over the 9.23. The both offer tremendous quality, but the 9.23 costs about $400. The minor differences in these two treadmills do little to justify the $400 price difference.
You'll get a good sized walking area with this model. The belt measures in at 20" x 57", which is a bit smaller than the standard 20" x 60" walking belt that comes on most of today's treadmills. The 3" lost in length shouldn't be a problem. Larger users will still have enough room to run comfortably without altering their stride.
A powerful motor is found in this machine. You can find models that cost up to $3,000 that have similar power producing capabilities. Even the most expensive Precor treadmill that we reviewed, which costs almost $5,000, uses a motor that is similar to this one. You can run up to 12 mph on this model, so even if you are an experienced runner, you should be able to challenge yourself.
A decent, yet unimpressive, cushioning system is built into this treadmill. Ground Effects Impact Control System uses individual shock absorbers to provide variable impact resistance in an effort to protect your joints and back. You can find better cushioning systems on less expensive models.
As far as projected reliability is concerned, this machine does well. There are several treadmills in this price range with a much lower life expectancy. The quality of parts is also good for the cost.
The warranty on the Precor 9.27 is good. Labor is covered for 1 year, parts and wear items are covered for 5 years, and the frame and welds are covered for life. This kind of coverage lets you know that the manufacturer is confident in their treadmill.
