Octane Fitness Q 47 c Elliptical Review
TREADMILL DOCTOR NOTE :
The Q47 has good quality and ergonomics, it makes a lot of sense if you can get a $500 to $700 discount off the MSRP.
The Q 47 ci has a basic flaw, it costs way too much for what you get. When you compare it to offerings from Sole, Smooth, NordicTrack, or even Precor and True the Octane's combination of quality and features doesn't match up with the price.
The Octane Q 47 c is a good elliptical that costs significantly too much at $4,199. The quality and range of motion is nice, so it is worth buying if you can get a hefty discount on it. Otherwise, this price range has much better options. If you are going to spend this much money on exercise equipment, you owe it to yourself to find something that's worth it.
Ergonomically speaking, this model is pretty good. It's not easy to find an elliptical that offers a more natural range of motion than this one at any price. The adjustability of this model is great. The stride length is adjustable from 18"-26", which gives you a decent amount of room to fit the motion to your body type. There are also 20 levels of resistance that allow you to align this machine to your fitness levels. Only a few of the ellipticals that we reviewed have more options for adjustments.
As far as projected reliability is concerned, this model isn't bad. You can, however, find a few ellipticals that cost several hundred dollars less than this one that have a longer life expectancy. The quality of parts used does not stand up to the massive price tag.
The noise levels of this machine are average. This is common among all ellipticals regardless of price. If quietness during operation is a major concern for you, you can find models in this price range that do a better job, but we don't expect the noise levels to bother the average user.
The warranty on the Octane Q 47 c is disappointing. Labor is covered for 1 year, the powerbands are covered for 90 days, parts are covered for 5 years, and the frame is covered for life. You deserve better coverage when you're making this kind of an investment in an elliptical.
