NordicTrack Commercial 1750 Treadmill Review
treadmill Doctor Note :
This model had some unfortunate service problems last year which were made remarkably worse by this factory's unparalled customer service.
Icon Health and Fitness is the largest fitness manufacturer dominating the global market. Their unique selling proposition is producing feature packed machines that are visually appealing. NordicTrack is a classic example of a company that is efficient at mass manufacturing backed by decent quality, given the price range. Nowadays that kind of quality gets more value addition with extra features.
In NordicTrack Commercial 1750 they have a treadmill that performs vigorously for serious runners packing in all the extras and features that they love at a price that is quite attractive. Users appear to be responding positively by ringing the company's sales counters.
What we can say in favor of the Treadmill
A good 3.5 HP motor that finds its way even in higher priced models
At the $1,000-$1,499 price range, getting this type of motor is a bonus considering that 2.5 HP is the norm. What makes us vote in favor is the undeniable fact that the motor synchronizes well with the tread drive producing a nearly noise free treadmill experience. The motor exhibits little time lapse in powering the larger running area, and works up speeds touching 12 miles per hour without breaking sweat. So we are getting a fine running machine. The solidity of the frame and the motor-drive synchronicity ensures the treadmill can take punishment without breaking down on you.
A kingly 20" x 60" belt that enhances your running experience
The wider body room in the running surface and the lengthier stride are a boon to heftier and taller runners, and in any other machine this would have developed some snag if it were not for the excellent 3.5 HP motor. Sometimes you end up paying much more this type of larger running surface, but the Commercial 1750 is a notable exception.
QuadFlex Plus cushioning protects regular runners
We get reliably good QuadFlex cushioning features that adequately protect the runner from muscle injury; nothing in the extraordinary category, but if you are aiming for superior cushioning then be prepared for additional expenditure.
30 Workout Programs and -3 to 15% Incline boosts your simulation of outdoor running options
There is no room for becoming bored on this treadmill when your console offers you a mix of 30 programs, opening a world of workouts to challenge the athlete in you. To make the sessions demanding you can set inclines as far as 15% to simulate slopes in the great outdoors. Great value for money; good news for improved muscle tone and a healthier calorie burn.
Warranty is satisfying and reassuring
Warranty happens to be 2 years on labor, 5 years on parts AND electronics and lifetime for the frame, motor, and deck; something that proves two facts - the company's hearty endorsement of the value of its product, and the quality and reliability of the machine over long term use - both satisfying the user.
Factors that make you look before you leap...
Cushioning feature satisfactory, not mind-blowing
Not to say that the cushioning is bad, but if a professional athlete wants superior shock and impact protection in the cushioning department he should spend more money and move to higher models.
Blemished service record
Arguably, fragile service delivery is the weakness of the millennium as far as Icon is concerned. Their record in the lower and median segments was never rosy but there are signs of improvement so I feel we can't write them off entirely. You have a quality machine with great warranty plans, so does the user rest content with that and become more forgiving of missed service deadlines?!?.
The final word
If you can afford entry into the median priced $1,000-$1,499 range the Commercial 1750 will not disappoint you, especially as it offers a great engine, fab running surface and is feature packed for the canny runner, offering all the essential ingredients for cooking a spicy workout. Add some bells and whistles from their proven Commercial 1570 model. A great overall treadmill and one of the best in the $1500 price point. If they only had good customer service.
