Livestrong LS13.0E Elliptical Review

Noise Level:

Overall Rating: 5.65

Johnson, the company that produces the Livestrong brand spent a lot of time developing a front drive ellitpical that has an ellipse motion that mimics a rear drive elliptical motion. The result is a unique feel that has proven popular with consumers.

The Livestrong LS 13.0 is a good elliptical that sells for $1,299. At this price, the amount of quality and features you receive is impressive. This model was the 2nd runner up for our Best Buy award in the $1,000-1,299 price range.

As far as ergonomics is concerned, this machine is right where it should be for its cost. You can find a few models priced lower that have a similarly natural range of motion, but you can find several more priced at more than $3,000 that are comparable in the area, as well. What makes this elliptical so unique is that it has a front drive system that was designed to mimic the motion of a rear drive system, which customers have been happy with. The adjustability isn't bad, either, although having a fixed stride length doesn't impress us.

The projected reliability is about average. At this price, you can find models that have a longer life expectancy, but it's not exactly the norm. The quality of parts is about average, as well. You generally have to pay $500-1,500 more to find higher quality parts, but if you do your homework, you can find some cheaper models that use better parts than this one does.

The noise level is on par with most of the ellipticals you find in today's market. If quiet operation is extremely important to you, you can find some models that do a better job in this area, but most people don't find this to be a problem.

The warranty is a bright spot for the Livestrong LS 13.0. Labor is covered for 2 years, parts are covered for 5 years, and the brake and frame are covered for life. This kind of coverage lets you know that the manufacturer is not afraid to stand behind their product.
