Brief Overview

The LS 10.0E is a basic machine that provides decent options and good value.

Overall Quality

Understand that the LS 10.0E is being discontinued. That being said it is a decent quality machine that provides an acceptable level of value. But if you do happen to find one on eBay or something, you may want to know a few things.

While the LS 10.0E is a decent buy at $999, its feature set is looking long in the tooth compared to the Epic brand that LiveStrong competes directly against. Johnson, the company that produces the Livestrong brand spent a lot of time developing a front-drive elliptical that has an ellipse motion that mimics a rear-drive elliptical motion. The result is a unique feel that has proven popular with consumers.

The Livestrong LS10.0E is a decent choice at $999. It's a relatively average elliptical with a price tag you can't argue with. This model, like the other Livestrong models, uses the front-drive system that users have responded to quite positively. You also get some nice features with this model, such as LIVETRACK that allows you to keep up with your progress for extra motivation.

As far as ergonomics are concerned, this elliptical does well. There isn't a model in its price range that can beat it in this area. In fact, some of the models that cost $2,000 offer a similarly natural range of motion. The adjustability is really good for the cost. There are only a few models at this price that offer more options, and many offer much less. There are 20 levels of power incline and 20 levels of resistance that give you some options to fit the movement and intensity to your body type and fitness level.

The projected reliability of this machine is about average. Most of the ellipticals in this price range have a similar life expectancy, but there are several more expensive models that we don't expect to hold up as well. The quality of parts is pretty good, but you can find better without paying more. The noise levels of this model are normal. Most ellipticals make the same amount of noise regardless of price, and this one is no different. If noise levels are a major concern for you, you can certainly find better, but it's not easy, especially at this low of a cost.

The warranty on the Livestrong LS10.0E is good. In-home labor is covered for 1 year, parts are covered for 3 years, and the frame and brake are covered for life. This type of coverage is appropriate considering the price and durability of this elliptical.

History

In past reviews, we have discussed how the LS 10.0E puts user comfort first. When we first saw this elliptical, we thought that it was unusual. Most front-drive ellipticals tend to cause the user to lean forward when operating. The LS 10.0E design allows the user to remain upright during the workout. With solid mechanical stability as well, this design is a home run. We even made the LS 10.0E our 2012 Best Buy for the $999 dollar category.
