A very solid treadmill, but it is a bit pricey at $2,500. You do pay for the Lifefitness name, but you get a quality machine. With a Precor 9.27, you will save $500 and still get the high quality brand name.

The Lifefitness F1 Smart is quality unit. At $2,499, it's a bit overpriced. If you like this model, you can find similar treadmills for $500 less. That's why we wouldn't recommend buying this machine without a significant discount.

The walking area is a decent size. The belt measures in at 20" x 55". While this a good 5" shorter than the standard 20" x 60" walking belt found on most of today's treadmills, it should still provide plenty of room for larger users to run on comfortably without altering their stride.

You'll get a motor that isn't bad in this machine. You can, however, find several models that sell for $1,000 less that have great power producing capabilities than this one does. You can reach speeds of up to 10 mph on this treadmill, which should be enough speed to challenge most users.

A cushioning system that isn't impressive in this price range comes with this model. FlexDeck Shock Absorption System is used to reduce the impact that running has on your joints and back. You can find treadmills with much more forgiving and durable running surfaces that are significantly cheaper than this one.

The projected reliability is what stands out most about this machine. Many of the models price around $2,500 have shorter life expectancies than this one does. The quality of parts used is equally impressive. These are the only areas that make this treadmill seem price appropriate.

The warranty on the Lifefitness F1 Smart is good. Labor is covered for 1 year, electrical and mechanical parts are covered for 5 years, the motor is covered for 10 years, and the frame and Lifespring shock absorbers are covered for life. You may get overcharged for this unit, but at least you get good coverage.
