Brief Overview

The X8R may have a light commercial warranty, but it's no light commercial machine. The quality is equivalent to a Sole E95 with out the features and for almost double the price of the Sole. The BH product offerings are classic value traps for consumers. They just don't offer the quality and features of their competitors.

History

We have said that the BH X8R is a pretty good elliptical for $999. But, seeing that it is $2599, we haven't seen the point in buying the BH X8R over other ellipticals on the market. BH Fitness came on the scene in 2008 with some ho-hum product offerings. They had trouble moving products through the traditional channels so they moved strongly online through outlets like Amazon.com, Sears.com, and Walmart.com. While that sounds impressive it really isn't. Their product offerings, whether expensive or not, have such poor value compared with the competition it is hard to see how anyone could actually buy one. If you are considering the X1, X3, X4 or X5 we would recommend that you purchase something from Horizon Fitness or Icon. If you are looking at the X8R or the X9R, try LifeFitness, Precor, Vision, or FreeMotion.
