AFG 5.1 AT Treadmill Review
treadmill Doctor Note :
From the same company that makes Livestrong. They are both good treadmills for the money.
AFG is packing more value in the treadmill for less money. They really are getting their act together.
The AFG 5.1 AT is one of the best treadmills available from AFG. At $1,499, you're getting good quality at an affordable price. You'll also get a very impressive warranty with this model. All-in-all, this is a good value.
The walking area is a good size. The belt measures in at 20" x 60", which has become the standard size walking belt on most of today's treadmills. This should provide plenty of room for larger users to run on comfortably without altering their stride.
An unimpressive motor powers this machine. It may not be the norm, but if you know where to look, you can find sub-$1,000 treadmills that have similar power producing capabilities. You can reach speeds of up to 12 mph with this model, so even experienced runners should have no problem challenging themselves.
A very nice cushioning system comes on this treadmill. Standard elastomers are used to reduce the impact that running has on your joints and back. You're not going to find a more forgiving or durable running surface in this price range.
As far as projected reliability is concerned, this machine isn't bad. The life expectancy of this treadmill is respectable, but it's beaten out by models from NordicTrack, Proform, Sole, and Smooth that have a comparable cost. The quality of parts is also nice, but you can certainly do better without having to pay more money.
The warranty on the AFG 5.1 AT is great. Labor is covered for 2 years, parts are covered for 5 years, and the motor and frame are covered for life. AFG makes it easy for a novice to judge the quality of their treadmills by comparing their warranties. This model is no different. It's a durable machine that is accompanied by good coverage.
