AFG 2.0 AE Elliptical Review
treadmill Doctor Note :
The 2.0 AE is an average elliptical in a competitive price point.
When comparing this machine to products available from NordicTrack or Proform, it is hard to recommend the AFG. They just don't have the features or the design to compete with these other brands.
At $599, the AFG 2.0 AE doesn't really do much to set itself apart. This price is low, so no matter what elliptical you choose, it will still have some problems. If you're going to purchase a model that costs this little, you really want to do your research and find the best possible machine available. Unfortunately, this one is not it.
Ergonomically speaking, this elliptical is awful. Even in this price range, it's not competitive. You can easily find machines with a more natural range of motion without spending any extra money. The lack of adjustability is also sad. This is a little more common at this price, but you can still easily find better. The stride length is fixed at 20", so you have to hope that works with your body type. You get a resistance range of 1-10, which gives you some options to match this model to your fitness level.
As far as projected reliability is concerned, this model isn't very good. Many of the ellipticals that are equally affordable have longer life expectancies. The quality of parts is equally unimpressive.
The noise levels of this machine are above average. Most ellipticals make about the same amount of noise, but it's not uncommon for those sold below $1,000 to be a little louder. That being said, you can find quieter models without increasing the amount of money you have to spend.
The warranty on the AFG 2.0 AE is good. Labor is covered for 1 year, parts are covered for 3 years, and the frame and brake are covered for life. You're generally not going to get better coverage than this without making more of an investment in your elliptical. Since worse warranties are often associated with ellipticals in this price range, AFG must have some faith in this model.
