See ReviewWho Manufacturers Octane Ellipticals?
General Information:Octane was started in 2001 by some industry veterans and quickly became a well-known name in the specialty fitness business by offering retailers HUGE margins. They have been excellent at taking what others are doing and copying it and making it affordably and then marking it up similar to what you would expect from a merchant in a Persian bazaar. Their latest is their adaptation of Tony Little's Gazelle. Octane was acquired by Nautilus in 2016.
Manufacturing Philosophy:Octane machines are typically packed with features and light on quality in key areas when you consider the price. The machines typically provide an excellent feel and they do a great job with their electronics. They strive to collect an excellent margin and also provide that to the retailer which is a formula that is in direct opposition to the one employed by Costco. You can expect a similar inverse result. The merchant and manufacturer do very well while the consumer takes it in the shorts.
Company Outlook : Due to the markup and their solid position in the specialty retail channel, we expect Octane to do quite well and have only strengthened with their new parent company, Nautilus. If you have the chance to own one of these at a huge discount, it can give you an excellent feel and a very solid design.
