NordicTrack Commercial 1750 Treadmill Review
Treadmill Doctor Note:
One of the best $1500 machines on the market. If you are a runner, consider this one!
Overall Rating: 7.55
Add some bells and whistles from their proven Commercial 1500 model. A great overall treadmill and one of the best in the $1500 price point.
The NordicTrack Commercial 1750 is a very sturdy treadmill that works great for runners. It's a lot like the Commericial 1500, but made a bit more attractive with extra features and frills. It was our runner up for the Best Buy award for treadmills priced between $1,300-1,499.
The walking belt is a good size at 20" x 60". This has pretty much become the standard size for treadmill belts, and you will, usually, have to pay a couple thousand extra dollars to find a treadmill with a larger walking surface. There are, however, exceptions, such as the Sole F80 which has a 22" x 60" belt for the same price.
The motor on this model is very good. It generates as much power as many of the more expensive models. The speed ranges from 0-12 mph, and you can use the full extent of that range, as we feel comfortable recommending this model for running. Some of the cheaper models can reach these speeds, but their frames won't hold up to the pounding they would take from running.
The cushioning system is good. QuadFlex Plus Cushioning is used, providing firmer support at the strike and takeoff zones. It's nothing particularly special for this price range, but if you want better, it'll cost you.
We expect this machine to be as reliable as many that cost much more than this one. It can even hold users weighing up to 375 lbs. The quality of parts used in this model is very uncommon for treadmills that sell in this price range.
The warranty is great on the NordicTrack Commercial 1750. Labor is covered for 2 years; parts and electronics are covered for 5 years; and the deck, motor, and frame are covered for life. You can find similar coverage in some of the lower priced models, but you won't find anything better without spending a lot more.
These products are produced by Icon Health and Fitness. They are the largest retail fitness company. This well-known brand name is heavy on features, and their newer units are holding up quite well in the home, if you don't count some of the glitch prone features. The treadmills are beautifully packaged machines and look great in your home. NordicTrack is quickly becoming known for making a solid quality machine at a bargain price, and they are selling more units that anyone else in their respective price range.
Quality / Philosophy
NordicTrack is produced by Icon, a company with thousands of employees and large resources. Put simply, their machines have the best design in the business. Icon has a long, storied history that provides an example of how the big keep getting bigger. Icon used to be the mass-market darling because of their cheap prices, but they had the quality to match. These days they put quality into the machines and pack them with features. The NordicTrack brand as a whole has improved dramatically over the past 5 years, and service improvements give us hope that this can be the leading brand in the home market.
Icon is the largest fitness equipment producer in the world with over $1 billion in sales. If the fitness industry were a solar system, Icon is so powerful that they would be the Sun. In terms of stability they are the best, but overall, their customer service isn't up to the standards of any of the lower volume producers. They have promised an improvement on this and have new management in the service department, so we hope this helps. Although you get a value price for the product, you also get value service, so keep this in mind when buying their machines. Due to the sheer number of units they produce, we pick up support in many cases where this factory leaves off.
