The EFX 5.17i is the beginning of the Precor elliptical lineup and it is classic Precor. That being said Precor is being hit hard in the economic downturn. Its core commercial business has become less profitable, and it has taken a series of financial hits due to customer bankruptcies. That the EFX 5.17i is a little more expensive this year when most others are paring down their pricing is another reason that Precor should worry. While a very good machine, if you can get a LifeFitness unit or better yet, an Octane unit at our recommended pricing, you may be better off.
