Noisy Deck on a Keys Built Treadmill

Deck squeaks when someone is walking on the treadmill: |

Check the deck bolts on the underside of the frame. Make sure all the deck bolts are tight. If they are tight move to step two. If you have one that just turns and turns, the insert may have come out of the deck and the fastener is turning is not holding the deck to the machine. We suggest replacing the deck but at a minimum, the fasteners should be removed if you have one that is loose. |

Fold up the treadmill and remove the plastic cover if your treadmill is equipped with a back cover. Locate the support bars that run the width of the deck and make sure the support bars are tight. If they are, move to step three. If not, tighten the bars. You must use a 7/16” wrench to tighten these bolts. |
Check the belt guides on the underside of the deck. Most are equipped with belt guides and with today's cushioned decks, the deck moves up and down while the frame stays steady. If the guides don't have 1/8” clearance from the frame, the guides can rub the frame and make noise. Simply bend the guides so you have the required clearance. |
| Check the deck surface for cracks. You may need to remove the deck (see our help section on removing a deck) or loosen the belt as much as possible and use a high powered flashlight in order to properly inspect the deck. If a deck cracks, you can get many odd noises and the deck has to be replaced.
